We are pleased to announce that an article by the EU-VIORMED group has been published in Frontiers in Psychiatry (2019 Impact Factor: 2.849) on May 10, 2021. This study
systematically investigated the available evidence about non-pharmacological interventions aimed at reducing violence perpetrated by subjects with Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders (SSDs) in forensic psychiatry.
The range of interventions studied was very broad from training in the early recognition of symptoms, cognitive remediation therapy to therapeutic theater and yoga. CBT was the most frequently investigated type of intervention.
This systematic review clearly showed that high-quality research in this field is urgently needed. Future research should address relevant research questions with sufficiently powered studies.
The EU-VIORMED project aims to support the harmonization of forensic psychiatric care pathways and treatment patterns across Europe in order to improve the quality of forensic psychiatric care across member states.
